Client Testimonials
May 21, 2010
"ND Turf has created a carpet of green in our backyard. From a full yard of weeds and bare sports, we now have beautiful green grass. Not only was the result magnificent, but Tim also taught me how to fertilize, water, and reseed so that upkeep is a breeze."
- A friendly Buffalo neighbor
May 17, 2009
"I was recommended to contact Tim Vanini at New Dimensions Turf by a friend after many failed attempts by other lawn companies to help resurrect our front and back lawns.
Tim was very positive and helpful when it came to recreating options to help repair our lawn areas. He took the time to explain to us his recommendations, as well as outlining possible timeliness and price ranges to invest in our lawn. Tim followed up with a written report, or 'blue print', for us to follow geared at solving the problems and outlined exactly how to avoid having them return. ND Turf and Tim gave us the confidence and the 'know-how' to be able to take care of our lawn.
I now have a lawn to be envious of, and the knowledge to keep it that way, thanks to New Dimensions Turf and Tim's expertise, time, and patience."
- Tripp Higgins, happy lawn owner

About Founder and CEO
J. Tim Vanini, Ph.D., founder and president of New Dimensions Turfgrass embodies the philosophy of “thinking differently.” For him, a writer, speaker, inventor and turfgrass scientist, his business is more than “just grass.” He believes in now just the practice but proper education of maintaining turf.
Dr. Vanini applies his scientific education to proper turfgrass maintenance. He earned his Ph.D. AND M.S. in Turfgrass Science, Agricultural Technology and Turfgrass Management at Michigan State University and his B.S. in Horticulture at Cornell University. He has published in Crop Science, Applied Turfgrass Science, Agronomy Journal and American Society for Testing Materials as well as SportsTurf and Golf Course Superintendent. He has spoken at regional and national conferences, and is currently teaching turfgrass management at Niagara County Community College.
He has worked with such clients as The Buffalo Bills, as the architect and project manager of the team’s practice field. He also formulated a management plan for the grown-in phase of the field from Nov. 2010 to Aug. 2011. He has also worked on projects with the Pontiac Silverdome for the 1994 World Cup, the Nichols School and Fox Valley Golf Course, providing expertise in not only turfgrass, but sports field management, construction and landscape.
An accomplished researcher, he also continues his own experiments to create and distribute the most up-to-date methods and products. In 1997, Dr. Vanini partnered to create a patent for “A Method for Reducing Abrasion to Turfgrass.” This year, Dr. Vanini worked with the Erie County Environmental Management Council c/o Erie County Dept. of Environment and Planning to develop “Managing Sports Fields with Alternatives to Pesticides,” a fact sheet that presents the most effective practices for achieving healthy sports turf with alternatives to pesticides.
Dr. Vanini also brings coaching into the mix, as competitive sports have been a part of his entire life. Dr. Vanini played Division I college hockey while attending Cornell University. After completing his masters, Dr. Vanini spent most of his coaching tenure at Cortland State (SUNY), finishing with Coach of the Year honors after four years.
